Wagenhauser Funeral Arrangements Finalized
Full Obituary Released
David J. Wagenhauser, 65, most recently of Waterloo, NY, passed at Strong Memorial Hospital
on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, with his loving family at his side. A time for family and friends
to gather will be on Friday, January 17th, from 4 – 7 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard
St., Seneca Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18th at 10
AM at St. Mary’s Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo. Donations in memory may be directed to the
Seneca County House of Concern at houseofconcern.org.
David was born in Rochester, NY, the son of John and Jacqueline (Maxwell) Wagenhauser. He
grew up in Spencerport, and graduated from Spencerport High, Class of 1977. He continued his
education at SUNY Brockport where he received his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1981.
Furthering his education, David put himself through law school at Syracuse University where he
graduated with his juris doctor in 1986.
After college, he found himself in the Washington DC area working as an attorney, which is
where he met his wife, Laura. They were united in marriage on August 22nd, 1998. The couple
returned to the Rochester area, where David helped his mother manage Westside Home Care
Agency, becoming the CFO. It was during this time that he helped a neighbor run for a village
office position in Brockport and where he found his desire to get involved in politics himself. He
became a trustee for the village of Brockport, that would later lead to his desire to run for
Congress.
Throughout his life, David was always a very happy and upbeat person. He always looked for
the best in people and was able to uplift those around him. He was also a man of deep faith and
great conviction. Unwavering in his beliefs, he said what he believed and believed what he said.
Outside of his career and his political interests,
David was an avid runner. He ran the Boston Marathon twice and has run over 15 marathons
over the years. He was also a self-taught carpenter. From a young age, it was evident he
excelled at working with his hands. He enjoyed renovating older houses and was currently
working to restore the family home in Waterloo.
As much as David was an attorney, or a politician, or a runner, he was a family man first. He
found great joy in coaching his son, Ethan, his soccer team, and there was no doubt in his mind
when he made his daughter, Dana, his campaign manager when he ran for the 24th
Congressional District in NY this last November. His family meant the world to him.

"NOT POLITICS
AS USUAL"
I'm not a knee-jerk Democrat. I believe in getting things done to make people's lives better. It starts with finding common ground. I'll work with anyone who can help me in my fight to deliver results for the people and communities of Upstate NY.
That means making Upstate more affordable for working families, safeguardng Social Security and Medicare, and providing incentives that make small businesses successful. I will work for the kind of future that gives our kids opportunities here and keeps our families together.
Congress has been of little help to Upstate NY - it's broken and desperately needs to be fixed. Even our democracy seems vulnerable. Extremists and ultra-partisans have made governing a chaotic nightmare where finger pointing and insults replace common sense, hard work and achieving real results. You don’t have to be divisive, ultra-partisan, hateful or a conspiracy theorist to be effective. In fact, you’ll be more effective if you aren’t.
Meanwhile, Representatives just get richer while working families, seniors, Upstate farmers, the middle class, the poor, and small businesses are being squeezed, and often treated like second-class citizens.
I know what it is like to struggle and like so many of you, have had to work hard to stay one step ahead. I hope to meet you in the months ahead, listen to your concerns and take your concerns, hopes and dreams to Congress where I will work tirelessly to make the long needed changes that will make our lives a little better. Please join me.
